                     Abu simbel is a historical monument in Egypt located along the bank of Lake Nasser. The beautiful rock temple that you see on the cover is today declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are actually two rock temples at this site carved out during the reign of Pharaoh and his queen Nefetari.
                     It looks 20 year to create this amazing piece of art. While the temples were originally built in a part of suanese lands they were relocated in 1964. This was done to avoid being submerged by the waters lake Nasser which was being created then. The relocation cost several million dollors. However saving it from possible ruin has made it one of the most popular tourist destinations in egypt today. isn't it amazing that during a period withonly basic equipments amazing monuments such as this not only in egypt but also in many parts of the world? Intricate carving , painting , mammoth , monuments. Using expert crafts man ship and man power make us wonder about the wonders of the ancient world .  
                                        



There are actually two temples here one dedicated to RA-HARAKHTY AMUM  and PTAH with four impressive statues of pharaoh RamesII on the facade. The  similar temple is dedicated by Nefertiti Ramesses queen considered one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt what you see here is the facade standing at 33 meters in height. The colassal statues are 20 meters high.                                                                                                                                                                       The temples were carved out from the rock where it was situated earlier with in the temple you will see statues of the gods their worshiped as well as etching on the wall depicting the different battles fought.
                                                                   These stunning temples are the part of the historic reign of the pharaoh for 67 years. If you do go there try to visit the temples during sun set or sunrise. The scene is said to be spectacular with such a dramatic back drop the sight is simply breath taking.
